Introduction

Welcome to this very sad site that someone decided to call 'The Benjy' ... well, perhaps they persuaded ME to call it that. Anyway while I am writing this I am being attacked by my twin brother Tim whose equally sad site is accessible from somewhere round here. OK intros over, time to get down to the real stuff...

Err...

Well...

And there you don't have it really. Great wasn't it. Note the use of past tense in the last sentence - well at least I didn't use one of those everso complicated other tenses from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (copyright somewhere) (eg. Agreaty aswant not ito - v. strange). Also this past tense probably refers to the fact that there is very high probability of me never doing anymore to this site and just letting it sit here and moulder into something disgusting (but still vaguely recognisable) hence it is me saying in the future about the site I have read in the past that it was then, is now and always will be, Great!...

I will leave you now and you pronounce me officially insane if you ever find me which I doubt as I'll probably already be slowly decomposing in a cardboard coffin, in fact I should be there already as in the distant future when they eventually develop time travel they will read this page and, if they don't commit suicide on the spot from shame at being one of the same human race as this author, then they'll come back in time and kill me before I ever write this. Of course the fact that I am actually writing it shows they are obviously keen on suicide rather than the scary alternative of meeting me.

Hello again! (just to really annoy you.) Have you noticed how the five words in brackets just a bit earlier were actually a figment of your imagination. You see they weren't actually there. They weren't in the first sentence and they weren't in the sentence after that. Just thought I'd point that out.
No Phil this site was not written under the influence of 'fizzy' (?) drinks or any other intoxicating substances.

Reviews

I don't pretend to be a great critic or anything but here are some books and games and other stuff that I'll give my opinion on:

Books

The Lord Of The Rings - J.R.R Tolkein

One stunningly excellent book, or rather three for it comes separately in three books but can be bought as one full copy: 1. The Fellowship of the Ring, 2. The Two Towers, 3. The Return of the King. It has to be one of my favourite books, if not the favourite. Fairly lengthy but this only makes it better because it lasts longer. Set in the fantasy world of Middle Earth J.R.R Tolkein has created a whole new genre of books with this. The BIG ONE in Fantasy books. A Must to get, even if you have only a passing interest in this type of book. I think I am right in saying that it was voted England's favourite book.

The Hobbit - J.R.R Tolkein

This is the prelude to the Lord Of The Rings (see above). It's all about the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (the hobbit) and 13 dwarfs. A great read and important if you want to understand The Lord Of The Rings fully.

The Silmarillion - J.R.R Tolkein

This is basically the History of Middle Earth, all three ages. Not a novel as such, more like a saga of an imaginary world. Very interesting if you like the other two books above and fills in a lot of background that is hinted at in them.

See the links section for a great J.R.R Tolkein link.

Alastair Maclean

Mr Maclean is one of my favourite authors. His books are gripping and exciting (among them are 'Where Eagles Dare', 'The Guns of Navarone', and 'The Golden Rendevous')and if you like, for example, Tom Clancy or Michael Crichton then you'll enjoy these although they are different.

Desmond Bagley

Another favourite author, with a similar style to Alastair Maclean but disctinctly different. Examples of his work: 'Landslide', 'Running Blind'.

Games

Alone in the Dark 1,2 & 3

Great atmospheric stuff. These games although old are still very good. In the classic first one you must investigate a old, supposedly haunted house. It gets fairly tense. Do Not play this after dark in a thunderstorm because you may well frighten yourself to death. The others are good too.

Monkey Island 1 & 2 (soon to be 3 also)

One of LucasArts' finest creations. These comic, addictive, graphic adventure games will hook you. Not easy, but not annoyingly immpossible to figure out. The music playing now is from Monkey Island 1. LucasArts are soon releasing a third, I for one am eagerly awaiting it.
